Will you join us?

We are seeking 165 new partners to share our mission and witness.

YMCA Derbyshire is marking its 165th anniversary this year. In order to sustain and develop our mission to support needy and vulnerable
members of our community, we need a new group of supporter members – individuals, churches, local businesses and other groups – who can share and contribute to our work in a variety of ways.

Join us in helping to transform the communities we serve, supporting young people to belong, contribute and thrive.

What is Project 165?
We are marking our 165th anniversary in 2012 by seeking to recruit 165 new partners and friends – either individuals, churches, businesses or other organisations – who can support our work by their prayers, financial donations, voluntary work or donations in kind. Each Project 165 member will be valued as an important member of the team and will be making a real and tangible difference to the lives of the young people we support.

Why have we launched this appeal?
We are proud of the fact that we have served the local community continuously for 165 years. But now we need extra support to maintain and develop our mission in the years ahead and to remain needs-led rather than having to be driven by changing political agendas.

How you can join Project 165
By making a single financial donation
By taking out a standing order for a regular donation, from as little as £2 per month
By Gift Aiding your donation
By donating items for our work, such as food or sports equipment
By volunteering as a church contact for Project 165
By becoming a praying supporter, either as an individual or as a church community

Our appeal patrons

Mayor of Derby Cllr Les Allen“I am pleased to give YMCA Derbyshire’s Project 165 my support as the YMCA serves so many young people, not only in Derby but across the whole country. The testimony of the young people who have received help and advice from the YMCA speaks volumes for the level of care and concern they have been given. As a Christian myself, I wholeheartedly endorse YMCA Derbyshire’s pursuit of Christian values and the wellbeing of all young people whatever their faith position. YMCA Derbyshire has given countless people a sound start in life over the last 165 years and I look forward to them continuing to do this for another 165 years.”
Cllr Les Allen, Mayor of the City of Derby 2011-12

Bishop Alastair Redfern“YMCA Derbyshire has been providing a powerful witness to the God-given potential of every young person in our community for nearly 165 years and I wholeheartedly endorse its work. In our current secular society, YMCA Derbyshire has remained true to its original Christian identity and mission by extending a warm welcome to everyone and working to develop young people in body, mind and spirit. It is very important that this local Christian charity is able to continue and grow its work to enable young people to flourish and to put its values into practice. I urge all Christian communities in Derbyshire to participate in the YMCA’s witness to the dignity and value of all young people and others by supporting and praying for its continued success.”
The Rt Revd Dr Alastair Redfern, Bishop of Derby
