PPA (Planning, Preparation & Assessment) cover

PPA cover 1YMCA Derbyshire has been serving the local community in a wide variety of ways since it was established in 1847. Today it continues to offer a wide range of services – including supported housing for vulnerable homeless people, innovative learning and development programmes, catering and room hire facilities, a furniture project and a Tenancy Sustainment Service.

Our Children’s and Young People’s Services are fully integrated into YMCA Derbyshire and constitute one of it four core areas of service delivery, sharing the charity’s vision and values. We are not a commercial company but a registered charity firmly based on our values to protect, trust, hope and persevere. Moreover, we have a vision of holistic development for everyone who uses our services – in body, mind and spirit. We believe that our vision and values set us apart from other providers of services for children and young people and add extra value.

What we can offer you

We are delighted to be able to offer a high standard of PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) cover as part of a tailor-made programme for your school.

Our services to schools have grown from strength to strength, largely as a result of developing positive school relationships over many years. We are currently delivering a wide range of PPA PE sessions within Firs Estate Primary School and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School respectively.  This has allowed us to create a programme to fit with your school and your needs.

We provide First Aid-trained and Fully Enhanced CRB-checked staff with numerous sporting qualifications to their names, at a highly desirable level to plan and teach curriculum-based PE lessons for all pupils in reception to year 6. We aim to deliver high quality PE lessons and thrive on the challenge of meeting the expectations of your school staff, parents and pupils.

Each member of our staff will plan their own exciting PE lesson to link with your school and the National Curriculum. We tend to follow the LCP scheme of work and associated lesson plans combined with Val Sabin schemes of work for dance and gymnastics. All staff members have a flexible approach and are encouraged to follow the scheme of work that works best for each individual school.

Our staff members also complete risk assessments for their activities and help support your teachers in the final end of year reports by providing child assessments at the end of every subject area taught.

Our competitive pricing

The PPA pricing structure has recently been evaluated to tie in with new service level agreements issued to all schools participating in the PPA programme.

Physical Education PPA

Price per session to be confirmed

Prices based on schools requiring a minimum of two sessions (AM or PM). A full day would consist of four sessions or more within the school day (school to use that time as required to utilise the staff member fully).

Extended Services

Extended Services after-school clubs can also be organised to make best use of ‘twilight’ time after the school day. These can be offered in a variety of activities, including sport-specific and multi-skills. These clubs are a fantastic and increasingly popular way to keep children fit and active during their normal school week. Dodge Ball is proving to be a very popular choice for schools and children, while we also offer football, cricket, rounders, tag rugby and much more.

Children are often very keen to take part in an extra hour of organised yet exciting activities after their school day. These clubs can be offered and funded by the school for their children to access or can be offered by the YMCA on a fee-for-service basis, extending your choice of Extended Services in school.
